Today I got an Email from my Cute Little Client, Abbey at The Bar Method Fremont. She finally has had a chance to deal with her Office/Staff Lounge and she needed my advice. She wants a Sofa in the room, she wants it gray, and her look is Modern Glam. She actually sent me three options she liked and asked me for my advice.  Without any hesitation, I picked number three! This sofa is the look she has going on in the space and it fits perfect in the space as you can see in the floor plan below.

A Dreamy Sister's Bedroom

Today, I bring you a brand new Bedroom I just completed. This was such a fun project and I could not be happier with the finished product.  A few months ago I was hired by two lovely ladies to design/decorate a little girl's bedroom.  My new client wanted to help her son and daughter in law with her granddaughter's bedroom because she was going to get a new sister very soon.  The problem was the room is so small and they needed to transition Evie to a "Big Girls" bed and include a crib in the room.  The girls would need to share a room.  We started with an initial meeting at the house, I met Evie and her adorable mom.  They shared with me what their needs were and then I put a Vision Board together for them to start the design process. Next, I created the Floor Plan Design and the Shopping Board from Wayfair and we eliminated what the client did not want and we placed our order.  There was now a wait time to wait for the furniture to arrive and while we were waiting, our adorable mom had her new baby girl, Summer. While the family was getting used to their brand new family, I went to all the local stores and went shopping for the bedding and decor for the Room.  I went to Target, Buy Buy Baby, Marshalls, Home Goods, and Bed Bath and Beyond. 

Finally came the staging/styling day! Yay! I arrived and put all the organizational items together in the closet and then we had the Assembly Men come in and build the Crib, Dresser/Changing Table, and Twin Bed.  After moving everything out of the room, we placed all the new furniture into the room and the staging/styling began.

2017 Interior Design Trends

Now that January is in full swing and all the resolutions are either work in progress or forgotten it's time to see what is going on in the design world for 2017. Our home is where life happens, the place where we love to relax, and the place we love to decorate. So where do you start? I thought I would share with you what is "HOT" for 2017. 

Green and more Green.

Pantone comes out with their colors for the year every year and we just love Greenery this year. Add some green this year into your house and if you are just not bold enough to add a Green Sofa or Green Chairs, add green throw pillows somewhere or just add green plants.

Did I say Marble? Oh yeah, lots of Marble everywhere!!

You might be used to seeing Marble countertops in bathrooms and kitchens but now you are going to see Marble everywhere and you can add some in your home now too.

Posh Velvet

Velvet is so glamours. We are seeing Velvet everywhere on sofa's and chairs, and even rugs.  I have to tell you Velvet feels so good and just makes you happy. Not only is Velvet beautiful and glamours it is so durable, this is definitely my go to when a client has cats.

Wallpaper is Back and it's Big!

Wallpaper has made it's way back into our life, and this makes me so happy. The new wallpaper is bold and dramatic. You will see a lot of Floral Wallpaper and Geometric Patterned Wallpaper this year. Don't be afraid to go bold.

Black is Back! That is Black Hardware

I am so excited about this trend as Black and White are two of my favorite colors. We are so used to seeing Gold and Chrome Hardware, this is going to be such a nice change and one I will be using as much as I can.

Quick Thanksgiving Table Settings

It's Time!  Turkey Day has arrived in the US. I wanted to help you out today by giving you some quick decor tips for your Thanksgiving Table. I know you are busy and just trying to get all those last minute food items and then getting all the turkey and sides ready is such a chore. But don't forget about your tablescape.  With all the prep you have done, getting the house clean and preparing all the food, you must have an amazing tablescape that will complement all the hard work you have done.  Here are some quick, simple, and easy ideas...

So simple. Get a plate or charger and put three candles on it. Wrap the candles with twine add burlap and then add some pinecones. Beautiful and simple!

I really love this simple idea. Add some winter pine and pinecones to the plate. Then add small glasses with filler, a tea light and add a name tag for each guest. Get your name tags at Target.

The 8 Must Haves in your Guest Room

Why hello there! The Holidays are in full swing and you are busy! With all that you are doing and preparing you must not forget about the Guest Room.  It doesn't matter who is coming over, what matters is that you take some time to prepare your Guest Room.  Get your Guest Room prepared for you guest so that they feel like they are welcome and they feel comfortable.  

I got you covered with my Top 8 Must Haves for your Guest Room...

1. The room must be clean, the linens and towels must be newly laundered, and don't forget to put fresh flowers or a live plant in the room.

2. Every guest room needs a bed but don't forget about a desk, a side table, a sofa or chair, or chaise. If the room is tight a chair will suffice but if you have a bigger space use a sofa.

3. This is usually forgotten but don't.  Your guest room should have a television or some type of stereo at least. Guest feel much more relaxed having something they are used to having at home and for most that is a television.

4. Mirrors, mirrors, mirrors, ---did I say Mirrors? Yes, don't forget about the mirrors.  I recommend at least two in a guest room.  A full-length mirror and a mirror over a dresser or placed in the room so one can see at least their face and upper body in it.  

5. Good Lighting. If you don't have overhead lighting in the room make sure you have enough lamps in the room that not only give ambient lighting but also give enough light to read, get dressed, and put makeup on.  The more the better.

6. Have on hand extra towels, linens, pillows, blankets, and toiletries. Create a beautiful display in the guest bathroom for your guests. 

7. A bed tray to hold their books, coffee/tea, and reading glasses. This is also a great decor item to have displayed on the bed when they enter. This is also a great spot to have a box of tissue for them too. 

8. Have a Closet that they can use to hang any items and have a Steamer and/or Iron for their use. You should also have either on a back or a door or an open wall space some hooks for bath ropes on them for their use.  (make sure they smell delicious)
